Always prepared, Roy compiles some letters he’s written to various Weatherfield residents to be opened if he doesn’t make it as he gets ready to enter the hospital.
Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman), a close friend of Roy’s, initially seems to have a love-hate relationship with him, but it turns out there are deeper feelings at play.
In yet-to-air sequences, Roy’s dog Freddie undergoes surgery of his own, and Evelyn learns via Roy’s niece Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) that Roy has resumed sleepwalking as a result of his anxiety over the impending surgery.
Roys enlists the assistance of Nina and Evelyn to look for Freddie after realizing that while sleepwalking, he left the cafe entrance open.
Finally, Roy tells Nina about his plan and gives Evelyn a stack of letters to deliver in the event of his demise.
Evelyn finds a letter that is addressed to herself while she sorts through the other letters.
Even worse, Yasmeen has a unique surprise in store for Roy.
Will Evelyn choose to put her love aside and leave Weatherfield once she realizes Roy has Yasmeen to aid in his recovery?
The role of the actress Maureen will make a brief leave when she takes the stage for a few weeks, the actress has already announced.
Evelyn’s departure from the soap opera hasn’t been officially announced, but it makes sense for the sarcastic character to take a vacation from the cobbles after obviously squandering her chance with Roy.
Fans can anticipate Evelyn’s tale winding up before the summer because she will be taking a four-week sabbatical from Corrie to perform in the play Rose.
