Fans of Coronation Street are aware that Paul Foreman has found it difficult to be open with Billy Mayhew as he adjusts to receiving a motor neurone disease (MND) diagnosis.
Additionally, he has been misrepresenting his upcoming court appearance to his partner, but Billy might soon find out the truth.
In Coronation Street a few weeks ago, Paul (played by Peter Ash) tried to steal a car as part of an insurance scam but was caught.
Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) is completely unaware of Paul’s impending court date for the car theft or his critical diagnosis.
The terrified resident of Cobbles has been opening up to lawyer Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) about everything, and she has been pleading with him to tell his family everything.
However, Paul doesn’t want anything to interfere with his sister Gemma Winter’s (Dolly-Rose Campbell) upcoming nuptials to Chesney Brown (Sam Aston).
Billy is expected to learn at least one of Paul’s secrets, according to official ITV soap opera spoilers, but how will he react if he discovers the full, horrifying truth?
Paul tells Dee-Dee in yet-to-air episodes how he discovered a novel drug online that makes the claim to treat MND.
He visits the MND clinic with higher expectations in mind, hoping to discuss the new medication, but is unsuccessful.
In order to save money, Rita Sullivan (Barbara Knox) suggests that Gemma organize a joint stag and hen party with Chesney. Rita also offers to put money behind the bar.
Later, Paul becomes aware of a problem with his right foot but keeps it a secret from Billy.
A moved Paul agrees when Gemma asks him to give her away at her wedding.
Paul is having trouble with his foot when Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) and him go over the details of the stag and hen do.
Later, Dee-Dee went with Paul to his appointment with the MND nurse. There, Paul begs the nurse to take him seriously for the Tofersen treatment because he believes it to be the solution to all of his problems.
Billy urges Paul to apologize to Gemma when he returns from the appointment, but he declines to do so.
Billy expresses to Dee-Dee his concern for Paul and his desire to know what is happening.
The attorney is curious about Paul’s whereabouts outside of court.
Damon Hay, an ex-convict, is soon found by Paul sitting alone in Victoria Garden by Ciaran Griffiths.
He exhorts Paul to take action by showing up in court and appreciating the time he still has left in his life.
When Paul does show up in court, Dee-Dee is overcome with joy.
Unbeknownst to Paul, Billy enters the courtroom as well to watch the proceedings.
