Simon Barlow, a young cast member of Coronation Street, has been missing for the past few weeks. He was last seen the morning of Daisy Midgeley and Daniel Osbourne’s wedding.
While their previous storylines wind down, residents of Coronation Street frequently vanish for a while.
One character who has appeared less frequently recently is Simon Barlow (played by Alex Bain), who received the cold shoulder from Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) in the previous scene.
After learning of his breakup with fiance Mollie Lockwood, the young actor also took a brief break from his social media accounts.
However, Alex informed his followers on Instagram on Friday morning that he had returned to the Manchester studios.
“So happy to be back working again this week,” he wrote. “Coronation Street, you have been missed.”
When he first decided to stop using social media and watching the soap opera, Alex informed his fans that he would be doing so because of recent events in his personal life.
“I’m certain everyone can understand. I’ll still be here. However, due to a number of comments left on the most recent articles as well as many other personal factors, I will be taking a break to focus on my own well-being and healing.
I will be significantly absent for a while, unless it is absolutely necessary for me to be here. Never forget to practice kindness toward others.
“No one is aware of everyone’s struggles on the inside. And to those who have personally messaged me: I have seen them and I sincerely appreciate it.
Fans were also worried about Gary Windass (Mickey North) back in April when they noticed he had disappeared from the cobbles.
Gary vanished after his dramatic plot with Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) and after momentarily assisting Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) with her political career.
Omery_Tension asked on Reddit: “Does anyone think Damon could take Gary’s place?
I’ve noticed that over the past couple of years, he’s been interacting with Gary’s former clients, and they’re essentially reenacting the Gary-Adam-Sarah plot with Damon.
I concur, and Bryan_RW added, “Very good points! I believe that Gary’s story will only ever have one resolution because, surely, he won’t actually get away with murder? (sic)
According to Midnightmitchell2019, Damon functions as a softer version of Gary. He has a little more vigor and, I suppose, a friendlier personality for the characters? Given that he intervened to thwart the armed robbery at the Bistro, Gary would have received that award two years ago without a doubt.
However, in Faye Windass’ (Ellie Leech) comes to a head, Gary has also recently made a comeback in Weatherfield.
She has been torn between staying with her fiancé Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) or leaving with Jackson Hodge (Joseph William Evans) and Miley Hodge (Frankie-Jae Simmonds).
