EXCLUSIVE: Coronation Street dominated the British Soap Awards this year, and Channique Sterling-Brown, one of the ITV soap’s winning performers, paid a special tribute to her co-star Peter Ash as a gruesome tale develops.
Since debuting on the cobblestones last year, Channique Sterling-Brown’s portrayal of solicitor Dee-Dee Bailey on Coronation Street has gained popularity.
Dee-Dee has been at the center of a recent plot that deals with a very difficult topic, while Channique has firmly established herself as the upbeat character.
Paul Foreman (Peter Ash), a character on the ITV soap opera, recently learned that he has Motor Neurone Disease (MND), which is still in its early stages.
His friend Dee-Dee has been there for him as he adjusts to the difficult news, despite the fact that his family has only recently learned about his condition.
Channique, the star of Dee-Dee, reflected on the “draining” storyline while paying tribute to her co-star in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk at the Soap Awards.

After working across the pond for several years, Channique, who was nominated for and later won the Best Newcomer award, arrived in Weatherfield for the first time to be with her family last September.
She described to reporters what it was like to be a part of the ongoing MND plot.
“It’s been brilliant,” she said. “Peter is such a fantastic actor; he raises the bar so much,”

“And he just put so much effort into the plot, and it’s really been beautiful – it’s been hard sometimes, and I think it’s been very emotionally taxing.
However, it has been very special, and I sincerely hope that we have done it justice because it is so significant.
The actress responded to a question about how she manages to put her job at the door while filming such intense scenes by explaining how little things enable her to shed her Corrie persona.
Yes, I am [able to leave work at the door], she retorted. For me, I believe it comes down to being surrounded by excellent people who care about me and keep an eye on me.

It’s the little things, like when my best friend offers to start the kettle or preheat the oven for me while I’m out.
When you leave it at work and go home, it really helps you relax.
Channique ultimately prevailed over rival nominees Kia Pegg from Doctors, Aaron Thiara from EastEnders, William Ash from Emmerdale, and Anya Lawrence from Hollyoaks to claim the title of best newcomer.
The recent acid attack story on Coronation Street, which featured harrowing performances from Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) and Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), led to the show receiving many honors.
