Ellie Leech, who has played Faye Windass on Coronation Street for 12 years, is saying goodbye to Weatherfield and her on-screen boyfriend Craig Tinker.
Ellie Leech’s character Faye Windass on Coronation Street has struggled to decide whether to leave with her ex-boyfriend Jackson Hodge and daughter Miley Hodge (Frankie-Jae Simmonds) or stay with her fiancé Craig Tinker (Colson Smith).
In upcoming scenes, Faye permanently leaves Weatherfield to begin a new life in Slough despite being coerced by Craig to stay with him.
In a recent interview with Express.co.uk and other media, actress Ellie Leech discussed filming her final scenes with Colson and described the experience as “emotional.”
It’s obviously very emotional, she continued, because not only am I leaving the street after 12 years, but Faye is as well.
The scene’s saddest moment, in my opinion, is when Craig is seen alone just walking up the street while we are in a taxi and on our way somewhere.

“Faye says, “Stop the car,” and then gets out and says, “I’ll always love you, I always have and I always will. ” I think that is just… it was so emotional.
Love isn’t always enough, as we can see in that scene, and I think you can see that there are two people here who do feel that way about one another.
Ellie talked briefly about her close friendship with Colson outside of work and acknowledged that it is always simple to film scenes with him.
“Colson is my best friend. We always laugh, no matter what the situation, whether we are crying because we are sad or just having fun.

He can be awful, but as soon as the tape is cut, the conversation resumes. We have worked together for so long that we just get along.
“I think it’s good that we are so close as friends because we can do those difficult scenes and then be normal,” the actor added.
Faye fears she will be sent back to jail after Craig, who is desperate for her to stay, uses the incident with Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) as a form of blackmail.
Ellie acknowledged that Faye worries and starts to perceive Craig differently from the kind and sensitive man he has been to her over the years.

Since he is always so nice and everything is just la-di-da with him, she continued, “I mean, I think everyone knows that Craig is this kind of fun-loving character.
“So I think she definitely wonders, ‘Where has this person come from, who is this person?’ and, as much as it motivates her to stay because she’s afraid of that person leaving, I think it also pushes her farther and farther away.
She doesn’t want to be in a relationship with someone who is effectively blackmailing her, but she also can’t break it off because then people will find out what really happened.
She also worries about returning to prison, which she would never want to do, so I believe she has a different perspective on him.
