Coronation Street viewers have watched Evelyn Plummer and Roy Cropper’s friendship grow over the past few weeks, with hints of a possible romance developing. However, it appears from upcoming scenes that a third party might put a stop to the potential romance.
The much-loved character Roy Cropper (played by David Neilson) made the decision to write letters to those who meant the most to him in case he didn’t make it as his surgery approached.
After it was recently determined that the Coronation Street resident has angina, a stent will soon be implanted.
Despite the operation being scheduled for a while in the future, a cancellation has caused it to occur sooner than anticipated.
Later scenes show Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) learning that her friend has also left her a letter to read if he passes away.
But in typical Evelyn fashion, she couldn’t resist reading what was inside because she was so nosy.
Fans have yet to find out what Evelyn received from Roy, but it is obvious that she was moved because she decided to visit him.
Unbeknownst to her, Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King), another woman, is already occupying Roy’s bedside.
After it was unintentionally donated to charity, Yasmeen had been searching for his late wife Hayley’s red coat and had brought it in.
As Evelyn overhears their conversation, she decides to leave and come back another day.
But when she goes to talk to Roy again, Yasmeen is already there as he explains how their friendship has been reignited since Hayley’s coat has been returned.
Evelyn bristles in disbelief because her jealousy is out of control.
Later, Roy requests that she keep caring for his dog Freddie for a little while longer while he recovers.
She portrays owning the dog as a major burden on her in an attempt to stoke her jealousy over Yasmeen now that she is in his life.
According to an maiil.online theory, after witnessing his joy over the coat, Evelyn realizes she will never measure up to his late wife.
Coronation Street viewers could see her leave the soap to deal with the heartache because her emotions were too strong to handle.
Maureen Plummer, a soap opera star, has already announced that she will be taking a break from the series this summer to perform in the West End production of Rose.
