Stephen Reid, the antagonist from Coronation Street, has been hiding out since he murdered Rufus Donahue, his third victim since returning to Weatherfield.
Todd Boyce’s portrayal of the murderer from Coronation Street Stephen Reid has been driven by a desire to acquire Underworld.
She managed to convince Carla Connor (Alison King) that her mental state was once more deteriorating before handing Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) over to him.
Since then, Stephen has been pretending to be in a relationship with Elaine Jones (Paul Wilcox), and he even got down on one knee and proposed to her.
Stephen applied for life insurance in Elaine’s name as a married couple a few weeks ago without her knowledge.
In scenes that will air the following week, Carla schedules a meeting with Stephen and surprises him by revealing that she has decided to sell her ownership stake in the factory in order to secure her future.
She also discloses that she has already secured a buyer for the shares and plans to move forward with the transaction.
Stephen reads an email from the life insurance company confirming his first payment while still feeling shocked but managing to smile.
Later, he suggests to Elaine that they remortgage their new house, Redbank, in order to purchase Carla’s ownership stake in Underworld.
Will Elaine agree because she has been pleading with Stephen to finally move in and begin organizing the wedding?
How will Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine), her son, feel if she approves the sale, especially after he made his feelings about Stephen crystal clear?
For a while now, ITV soap opera viewers have speculated that Stephen will eventually kill Elaine in order to amass as much money as possible.
Paula Wilcox, who plays the character of Elaine, recently discussed her relationship with Stephen and hinted at the peril she faces.
She said, “I think there is nothing but excitement as far as she is concerned about moving to the next stage of the relationship.”
She is eager to spend some quality time with Stephen alone while having him to herself. But of course, the longer she spends with him alone, the more time he has to start his plans.
The future promises to be very interesting. She has no idea what she is getting into, so hopefully someone is looking out for her.
Is Stephen so in need of cash that he would murder Elaine so soon after purchasing life insurance?
