As one Weatherfield resident interferes with Stephen Reid’s plans to wed Elaine Jones, viewers of Coronation Street could see the serial killer turn his attention to a fourth victim.
The Canadian businessman Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) has been involved in countless lies and schemes since his arrival on the cobblestones last year, even resorting to murder three times to avoid being exposed.
Since learning that Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox) has a sizable amount of equity in her home, he has been getting to know her better.
Viewers saw her excitement when Stephen proposed while high on LSD after accidentally spiking himself, unaware of his true intentions.
Tim Metcalfe, Elaine’s son (Joe Duttine), has been wary of Stephen from the beginning, and the news of their impromptu wedding has only increased his misgivings.
Tim once said he’d “rather die” than see his mother wed Stephen. His words may come true if he proceeds with the murderer’s plans, which viewers are aware will not sit well with Stephen.

Tim tries his hardest to put a stop to the upcoming wedding in scenes that will air next week, but his conversation with his mother doesn’t turn out as he had hoped.
Elaine and her son argue, but she ignores him and makes the hasty decision to take a flight to Vegas that afternoon to wed Stephen as soon as possible.
Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor), who is responsible for telling Tim about the shotgun wedding, is shocked when she learns about it.
Tim offers to drive them both to the airport as a gesture of goodwill after making it clear that he accepts their decision to get married.

But after luring his mother into the taxi and leaving Stephen at the door, he quickly speeds away with her held hostage.
His wife and the murderer watched them travel down the road in disbelief, wanting to speak to her privately in a final desperate attempt to prevent her from marrying Stephen.
Will Tim be able to convince his mother that Stephen is only after her for money as the two have a heart-to-heart discussion about the situation?
As Stephen offers to rebook their tickets, it appears that the engaged couple misses their flight later on in the week.

Will Elaine hand over her passport when he reminds her that he needs it, though? Or have Tim’s stern words at last made an impact?
Stephen’s situation appears to be getting worse as he later expresses annoyance at spotting Owen Armstrong (Ian Puleston-Davies) making out with Jenny Bradley (Sally Ann Matthews).
Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost), Jenny’s fiance, became Stephen’s first victim on the cobblestones when he threatened to tell the family about his lies.
Soon after, his father Teddy (Grant Burgin), who had grown suspicious of his son’s whereabouts, was the next to be found.
Most recently, viewers saw Stephen kill Rufus Donahue (Steve Meo), who had been blackmailed into keeping quiet about his nefarious activities in exchange for money.
