Elaine Peacock has taken over the Vic from Linda Carter, and the Knight family, newcomers to EastEnders, have announced their arrival in Walford.
Elaine Peacock, played by Harriet Thorpe, was soon joined by her fiance George Knight, played by Colin Salmon, and his daughters Gina Knight and Anna Knight, played by Francesca Henry and Molly Rainford, respectively.
Elaine tried too hard to be involved in her stepdaughters’ lives, and as a result, their relationship is tense.
Elaine’s situation is about to get even worse as she meddles in their romantic relationship and makes a critical error.
Elaine will attempt to approach Gina and play matchmaker in later scenes.
Despite her best efforts, things quickly go horribly wrong when she conflates Gina’s affection for Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier) with a crush on Zack Hudson (James Farrar).
Elaine encourages Gina to approach Freddie for a date after learning that he is available, but Zack soon rejects her.
Gina is devastated, but after Elaine claims she has spoken with him, she thinks there is still hope, even though she has confused Zack with Freddie.
Gina is soon humiliated, though, when Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) learns about the Zack and Freddie cross-over and issues a stern warning.
With her soon-to-be stepdaughter, Elaine finds herself in a sticky situation and scrambling to make things right.
George asks Elaine to try and make it up to Gina after learning what transpired with the girls as Anna makes an effort to get along with Whitney.
By organizing a girly pampering afternoon with Kim doing the girls’ nails, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) promises to help Elaine win the girls back.
However, as tensions between Elaine and Gina continue to be high, the girly afternoon quickly turns into a heated argument.
In a candid conversation, Gina tells Elaine that she doesn’t need her to become involved in her business and that she doesn’t need another mother.
Elaine and George’s love for one another is later acknowledged by the Knight girls after they have calmed down, and Linda hopes that they can move past this.
