As Lola Pearce passed away from cancer, EastEnders viewers were inconsolable as they watched Jay Brown by her side.
Following her sad cancer storyline, Lola Pearce (played by Danielle Harold) received a tearful farewell from EastEnders.
In his emotional farewell address, her husband Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) said that his wife was “willy, sassy, scrappy and sexy,” and that she might as well have been a fox.
After she passed away, fans sobbed as they watched a fox pass through Albert Square as a memorial.
Speaking at the British Soap Awards, Jay actor Jamie revealed that now that his on-screen wife has left, he has prepared his own exit for the future.
I suppose I won’t be able to surpass Danielle Harold’s efforts, can I? So okay, get rid of me,” he said.

He told the Daily Star, “In the monologue I say to her [before she passes away], I say I’ll be a rat and you can be a fox, and then there’s going to be a tape.
“I’ll sacrifice never returning to EastEnders so that we can see a fox and a mouse looking through the trash as my parting shot.
“I am such a giving person that I would give that up for this soap. I don’t need to work again simply for that, for that one scene; kill me off for that.

Additionally, he told Express.co.uk that Lola’s death’s repercussions might take a very long time to resolve.
He responded that Jay was not just going to move on in a couple of weeks when asked if there could be someone else on the scene for him.
The Lola actor Danielle announced on Instagram that she was still in disbelief after winning the British Soap Award for Best Leading Performer.
“I’m still in shock, I can’t thank everyone that took the time to vote for me enough,” she commented beside a photo of her acceptance.
Following Lola’s farewell episode, Jamie sent an homage to his co-star on Instagram, saying: “Tonight we bid goodbye to Lola and what a trip myself and @danielle_harold have been on!
“All these years of working together have been the finest! She is a unique person, for sure!
The entire cast and team, as well as Danielle, deserve kudos for their efforts in bringing Lola’s cancer plot to life.
“Gonna miss ya at work kid love ya,” he wrote beside a number of pictures of the two.
