Since Cindy and Ian Beale’s reunion in France was confirmed, EastEnders viewers are aware that they will soon return. The Square will be shocked by Cindy’s appearance in particular because it has been thought that she passed away more than two decades ago.
The BBC soap opera has now released a date for the return of EastEnders legend Cindy Beale (played by Michelle Collins) to Walford.
Cindy hasn’t visited Walford since it was discovered she is still alive back in June.
Cindy will enter Albert Square on Monday, August 28, for the first time in 26 years, according to a new trailer.
Her ex-boyfriend Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), who returns to Walford the following day after a few years away, won’t be far behind.
Cindy can be seen in a preview standing at Walford station and speaking in a voice-over as she says, “I’ve wanted to visit for so long.”

She then approaches Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), giving her the shock of her life, and says, “Hello, Kathy.”
Unsure of what to say, Kathy glares at Cindy and says, “You’re dead.”
In a later conversation with Ian, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) says: “Cindy always did have a way of pulling the wool over people’s eyes.”
Before Kathy can scream, Ian responds, “It’s different now. She causes unhappiness and confusion everywhere she goes.”
Cindy continues, “It feels good to be back in Walford; it feels like I’m coming home.”
The videos also show Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) and Anna Knight (Molly Rainford), her daughters, joyfully preparing to celebrate the latter’s 21st birthday.
The twist comes from the discovery that Cindy has been in witness protection for many years and that she has previously gone by a different name.

She had a family back then with George Knight, a newcomer to Walford (Colin Salmon), whom she is unaware currently resides in The Vic with Gina and Anna.
Her daughters thought their mother had a name like Rose Knight, and all they knew was that she had long since left the family.
After 25 years away, Cindy returns to the square, the Knights eagerly get ready for Anna’s surprise 21st birthday in the Vic, and there are fireworks as Kathy comes face to face with a ghost from her past, according to the episode summary for August 28.
