EastEnders rocked as Lola Pearce dies as family gather to say goodbye

-

In deeply moving scenes in next week’s episode of EastEnders, Lola Pearce tragically passes away from her illness after months of battling a terminal brain tumor.
The residents of Albert Square will have a sad week next week as Danielle Harold’s character Lola Pearce finally passes away from her terminal brain tumor.

It becomes clear that she is not long for this world, despite her hopes for a miracle cure.

When Lola has another seizure, her husband Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) summons the nurse, who breaks the heartbreaking news that Lola is dying.

Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), her grandfather, struggles greatly with the knowledge that the young mother will soon pass away and seeks solace in the Queen Vic.

Sadly, after a few too many, he has a run-in with Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry), who purposefully riles him up, which prompts Billy to smash the Minute Mart’s window out of rage.

Jack Branning (Scott Maslan), who has come to defuse the situation as tensions between Nish and Billy rise, is caught in the crossfire when Billy unintentionally hits him.

As a result, Billy is taken into custody, and even though Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) tries her hardest to have him released, it’s possible that he’ll spend Lola’s final hours in a jail cell.

Jay is informed that Lola’s loved ones need to say their final goodbyes because she is not responding.

He struggles to say his goodbyes because he is so upset, and even hardman Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is overcome by the circumstance.

When she needs help with her young daughter Lexi (Isabella Brown), Kathy Mitchell (Gillian Taylforth) and Callum Highway (Tony Clay) emotionally promise to help.

These heartbreaking scenes not only signal the conclusion of Lola’s journey, but also the departure of the soap’s actress Danielle Harold.

She acknowledged that it was extremely difficult to film her final scenes in the role she has played intermittently since 2011.

“Filming these last few scenes again has been really challenging because the going gets really tough, especially toward the end.

“It’s such a heartbreaking diagnosis and it’s not nice to watch or play, so working with the charities has been so important for us because we want to portray Lola’s diagnosis both accurately and sensitively while also raising awareness to hopefully make a change.”

Danielle also stated that the response from the general public to the plot has been entirely favorable.

Danielle also stated that the response from the general public to the plot has been entirely favorable.

“Everyone’s response has been overwhelmingly positive and lovely because they are so supportive of Lola. It has been wonderful to observe that.

She also has nothing but praise for her co-stars, particularly Jamie Borthwick, Perry Fenwick, and young Isabella Brown who played members of her immediate family.

Both on and off the screen, “We’re all just so close, we’re like a real family unit!

“I really couldn’t have done this with anyone else because we just all work in such a great way together and taking on this story was such a team effort from all of us,” she said. “It’s been so special doing this with them.”

EastEnders airs on BBC One at 7.30pm Monday to Thursday. Lola’s final scenes will air on Wednesday 31st May.
