The sudden, terrible death of Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) is expected to shock Albert Square residents in upcoming episodes of EastEnders, with the neighbourhood pulling together in moving sequences.
Lola was told lately that there were no more treatments that could stop the tumour from expanding after being diagnosed with a brain tumour last year.
The news that she only had weeks to live was devastating to her family.
Lola went out one last time with her husband Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick), and then she went home.
As she grew weaker, the people of Walford came together to help her make memorable memories.
In upcoming moments, it will become apparent that things are not going well for poor Lola, which motivates Linda Carter, the landlady, to take action (Kellie Bright).
Linda invites a number of residents to a lock-in because the atmosphere on the Square is gloomy.
As Lola’s friends meet, they are forced to think about life and death as the tragedy of her predicament looms over them all.
In another location, Lola’s family has also assembled, realising that they must say their final goodbyes. According to Danielle Harold, this scene was painful for both the actors and the characters.
Both on and off the screen, “We’re all just so close, we’re like a real family unit!” Since we all get along so well and taking on this narrative was such a team effort from all of us, it has been such a fantastic experience working with them. I honestly couldn’t have done this with anybody else. She spoke.
In order to say farewell, Kathy Beale and Callum Highway (Tony Clay) enter Lola’s bedroom while Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) is still on his way home from America.
In touching sequences, they make a commitment to take care of Lexi (Isabella Brown) while Lola is away.
Jay struggles to say goodbye as Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) continues to struggle with the issue.
