Jane McDonald took over for Philip Schofield, who was scheduled to host but resigned from ITV with “immediate effect” after admitting to having an affair with a much younger male colleague in a statement.
He clarified that although the relationship was “unwise,” it was “not illegal” and that it happened while he was still married to Stephanie, with whom he has two adult daughters.
In a later statement, ITV said they felt “badly let down” by the longtime host after Phil admitted to lying about the relationship to his bosses and coworkers.
