A character involved in the storylines will be returning, but Emmerdale producer Jane Hudson is keeping her cards close to her chest about summer weddings on the ITV soap.
In front of their loved ones, Charity Dingle (played by Emma Atkins) and Mackenzie Boyd (played by Lawrence Robb) were married at St. Mary’s Church earlier this year.
But since Charity found out he had been unfaithful to her and was the father of Chloe Harris’ (Jessie Elland) newborn son Reuben, their marriage has already come to an end.
Nicky Milligan (Lewis Cope) and Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) are engaged in another wedding plot, but he doesn’t know he’s gay and is using her as part of his dad Caleb Milligan’s (Will Ash) scheme to take over Home Farm.
Nicky has told Gabby he won’t want to have a sexual relationship with her until after they have taken their vows, but in reality, he is in love with Ally (Josh Horrocks).
Could Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and returning character Tom King (James Chase) be getting married soon? Another love story is currently playing out on television.
Emmerdale executive Jane Hudson talked to Express.co.uk and other media outlets about a returning character to the soap who is connected to “at least one” summer wedding before Gabby and Nicky’s nuptials.
There will be at least one more wedding before the end of the summer, she said.
She said, “One of the weddings will be more formal than Charity and Mackenzie’s.”
She said: “We will have a familiar face returning before the end of summer, which I think the audience will be absolutely delighted.” This was in reference to a character returning to the village for one of the ceremonies.
Jane hoped that they would stay for the foreseeable future. The character is returning to attend one of the weddings.
Since she made no indications as to which character would be returning, the possibilities are practically limitless.
Future scenes will show Caleb pressuring Nicky to convince Gabby to schedule their wedding.
As the malware on Kim Tate’s (Claire King) laptop begins to grant him access to her bank accounts, Caleb rejoices.
Nicky refuses to end their self-imposed celibacy despite Gabby’s repeated requests, saying he prefers to wait.
As she is unaware of Nicky’s sexual orientation, Gabby asked Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles) to accompany her down the aisle in order to concentrate on the wedding.
