Meg Johnson, an 86-year-old actress, passed away over the weekend, and the news was tragically announced by Emmerdale.
Meg Johnson, an Emmerdale actress who played the recognizable Pearl Ladderbanks from 2003 to 2020, passed away on Sunday.
Pearl became a well-known character during the actress’ 17-year run on the ITV soap, and fans were quick to pay tribute to her.
Meg, who also starred in Coronation Street, took a lengthy hiatus from ITV three years ago but returned briefly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meg’s final scene, which aired on March 13, 2020, has since come to symbolize a difficult time in the late star’s TV career.
The video clip showed Pearl relocating to a static house far from the Dales after leaving the village.

Pearl expressed her desire to leave the Yorkshire village and gain some independence.
Her most memorable plots involved defending her rapist son Frank Bernard Hartbourne (played by Rob Parry), barely escaping the explosion at the Sugden home, and pretending to have Alzheimer’s disease in order to hide her gambling addiction.
In one scene, Edna Birch (Shirley Stelfox) was pleading with her friend to tell the truth.
Pearl said, “Let’s just wait and see what the doctor says, I mean, he knows best.”
It would be much better if you admitted to doing something you shouldn’t have, Edna said.
