Actress Ellie Leach, who has played Faye Windass on the show for twelve years, will leave her role next week, and she has admitted that the idea of leaving is “scary.”
Ellie Leach, who portrays Faye Windass, will leave Weatherfield next week after growing up on the streets of Coronation Street.
She is forced to decide between moving in with dependable cop Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) and their daughter Miley (Frankie-Jae Simmonds), or going to Slough with her ex-boyfriend Jackson Hodge (Joseph William Evans).
Ellie, who is 22 years old, is at ease with her decision to leave the role after 12 years while Faye is having trouble making her choice.
She told The Mirror at the Pride of Manchester Awards, “It’s always going to be scary leaving somewhere you’ve been for a long, long time, but I also think with risk comes reward.
Since I’ve been working since I was nine years old, I’m going to take a brief vacation.
She said, “I think I’m going to take a little bit of a vacation and just do a little bit of traveling.”
When questioned if Faye might make a comeback in the future, she remained coy.
She laughed and said, “I don’t know. The public will have to wait and watch.
The star has been at the center of some intense storylines despite her young age.
As the adopted daughter of Anna (Debbie Rush) and Eddie Windass (Steve Huison), she first arrived on the cobbles.
When she sought out her biological father Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine), who later established a home on the street, her family tree became complicated.
The two made amends, and Anna was now off the slick pavement with Gary Windass (Mikey North) watching out for her.
Her character found out she was pregnant with Miley at the tender age of 13, which required the young actress to portray some difficult scenes.
Jackson, the baby’s father, eventually received custody after she struggled to establish a bond with the child.
She served time in prison in more recent years after mistakenly believing she was Sam Robertson when she attacked Adam Barlow.
She was also given an early menopause diagnosis in a plot element that promoted understanding of the condition.
Since they first met and before they eventually started dating, Craig has been enamored with her and has watched everything from a distance.
Ellie is related to Brooke Vincent, who previously played Sophie Webster on the soap opera Corrie.
She took on the role in 2004 and continued to do so until she took maternity leave in 2019.
In the years since, she and her football player partner Kean Bryan have welcomed a second child.
