Watch the moment EastEnders is crowned Best Soap at the British Soap Awards 2023


At the British Soap Awards, EastEnders unquestionably triumphed, winning the prized Best Soap honor.

Under the direction of Chris Clenshaw, who has presided over what has evolved into a renaissance period for the show, the BBC One serial drama has had a truly spectacular year.

Hard-hitting and issue-raising topics are abundant, compelling and primarily character-driven storylines are once again in the spotlight, and the arrival of a new family has given The Vic a brand-new dynamic.

Additionally, the return of well-liked characters like Sam Mitchell and Alfie Moon as well as the departure of other mainstays like Mick Carter and Janine Butcher have created numerous must-watch TV moments.

EastEnders received the coveted trophy for this year’s Best Soap at the British Soap Awards thanks to the widespread support from home viewers who were enthralled by the show’s blatant quality improvement.

If you can’t wait that long to see EastEnders named the country’s best soap of 2023, we have a brief clip of the special moment, just for you. The British Soap Awards will air on Tuesday, June 6 on ITV1.

The cast and crew of the well-known soap opera gathered on stage to accept the prize. Billy Mitchell actor Perry Fenwick accepted on behalf of himself and his coworkers and expressed their gratitude to the audience for the honor.

He said, “Thank you to every single person who bothered to vote for us! We truly appreciate it and are overjoyed to bits!”

The audience applauded the impactful message.

EastEnders won three additional awards in addition to Best Soap, with Best Leading Performer going to Danielle Harold, who played Lola Pearce.

As viewers are aware, Lola tragically passed away last week after a fight with a terminal brain tumor, in a plotline that won praise from critics.

The Best Villain award, which was also chosen by the audience, went to Aaron Thiara of the Ravi Gulati film. The actor who portrays Lily Slater, Lillia Turner, won the award for Best Young Performer.

The British Soap Awards airs Tuesday June 6 at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
